The minimum wage in Georgia and the decree issued by the President in 1999, according to which the monthly minimum wage is set at only 20 GEL. More than 20 years have passed since then, but the decree has not been changed by any of the authorities.

Georgia ranks fourth to last in the list of countries with the minimum wage. In most cases, the income of the majority of the population of Georgia does not even reach the subsistence level.

The Center for Progress has been working on a minimum wage project for several months now, which aims to raise public awareness and develop new, dignified legislation relevant to the situation in the country.
