Today, the members of the Center for Progress held an action-performance in front of the Parliament in order to solve the problems of the suspended students and addressed the Chairman of Education, Science, and Culture. We demanded additional regulation in the Law of Georgia on Higher Education.
In particular, Article 881 shall be added to the transitional provision of the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, which shall be formulated as follows:
1) Due to socio-economic problems caused by the pandemic 2020-2021 study in public and private universities
the tuition fees for the year must be halved;
2) Due to financial debts in the 2019-2020 academic year universities must reinstate student’s status for suspended students.
The Center for Progress has published a petition on Manifest.ge demanding halving the tuition fees for students with suspended status, which was joined by more than 9,000 citizens in one week.
